My month in books & bakes – March

my month in books & bakes

What’s happened in March?

My first bookish outing was to Waterstone’s in Birmingham for an evening with Joanna Cannon, author of The Trouble with Goats and Sheep. I hadn’t read the book at this point but it was still really interesting to hear about Joanna’s writing process and her journey to publication.

I also attended my first London author / blogger meet up organised by the lovely Kim the Bookworm and Holly Martin.Β  It was a great day and a fab turnout of bloggers and authors.

  1. 31st March 2016 / 9:19 am

This looks like a busy month! πŸ™‚ I wish we had more book events around here, but this weekend I’ll be making a trip to my first book event, Les Escales du Livres, I can’t wait, even though I already know all the authors and books will be French…

    • 31st March 2016 / 9:47 am

I know what you mean about events. London is a 2 1/4 hour trip for me, and Birmingham is an hour so they both mean making an effort. Enjoy your event, it will be fun! πŸ™‚

  2. 31st March 2016 / 1:29 pm

HOW many books ?!?!?! hahaha I enjoyed The Light Between Oceans. Can’t wait to see it at the cinema and see what they’ve done with it Lindsay.

Great month of books and meeting others … and those yummy bakes πŸ˜€
ps hope your ankles is better now

      • 1st April 2016 / 9:12 am

I think I’m going to choose Oceans as my next book club read. It’s been suggested that it will inspire good discussions.

Thanks Shaz, ankle is better than it was but my recovery has kind of plateaued! πŸ™‚

Thanks Hayley, am really excited about the RoofTop book club too (although a little nervous as well!)

  3. 31st March 2016 / 3:20 pm

I’ve never met an author myself, must be really cool !
Great selection to add to your TBR-pile too. Haven’t read any of them yet but look forward to your opinion.

    • 1st April 2016 / 9:14 am

It is but I also find it quite intimidating especially if it’s someones books I adore…fangirl is an understatement πŸ˜‰

  4. 31st March 2016 / 7:42 pm

Sounds like a good month. I love the idea of Author Blogger meet ups, hope the next one will be brilliant. That is a lot of books added to your tbr list.
Your bakes look delicious, just about to click onto those now.

    • 1st April 2016 / 9:16 am

Thanks Amanda, if you’re near London or Birmingham then you should come. They’re open invitation and I can invite you into the events on Facebook so you can see details etc. Email or DM me if you’re interested πŸ™‚

      • 1st April 2016 / 3:55 pm

Thank you, I’m in Scotland, so not close enough but next time I’m visiting I will look out for events. They sound great.
