I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to post this week as I’ve had such a busy week my reading rate has suffered somewhat. But here I am…true dedication to Wednesday posting!
This weekly meme is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. It’s open to all to participate. Why not join in and let us know what’s on your reading list this week…
To join in, just answer the following three questions…
• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?
I’m currently reading…
Death by Dangerous by Olly Jarvis
I just started this last night and haven’t read very much at all so not much to report here.
The blurb
Death by Dangerous is a compelling legal thriller set in Manchester and Bradford.
John Anderson is one of the North West’s most dedicated and successful prosecution barristers. His career is going from strength to strength and he is on the verge of becoming Queen’s Counsel. But the life he once knew suddenly comes crashing down following a fatal road traffic accident…
I recently finished reading
The Broken Hearts Book Club by Lynsey James
A light, fluffy, easy read and utterly predictable. I had hoped for something a little different but this is everything you’d expect it to be; there’s nothing wrong with that and lots of readers will thoroughly enjoy but I was a little bored (despite the book references).
The blurb
Secrets never stay buried for long…
Lucy Harper has always been good at one thing: running from her past. But when her beloved Nana Lily passes away she has no choice except to return to the one place in the world she most wants to avoid…
Luna Bay hasn’t changed much in the eight years she has spent in London. The little Yorkshire village is still just as beautiful, but the new pub landlord is a gorgeous addition to the scenery!
Lucy only intended to stay for a day, yet when she discovers that Nana Lily has not only left her a cottage but also ‘The Broken Hearts Book Club’, Lucy is intrigued. Her Nana never have mentioned the club and Lucy can’t wait to get started, but walking into her first meeting she is more aware than ever that her past is finally catching up with her.
One way or another, Lucy must finally face the secrets she’s kept buried for so long – or spend the rest of her life on the run…
What’s up next?
The Versions of Us by Laura Barnett
Although the Netgalley challenge has finished, I still have a couple of books left on my reading list that I want to read and feed back on. This has been there since about April so time to read I think!
The blurb
What if you had said yes . . . ?
Eva and Jim are nineteen, and students at Cambridge, when their paths first cross in 1958. Jim is walking along a lane when a woman approaching him on a bicycle swerves to avoid a dog.
What happens next will determine the rest of their lives.
We follow three different versions of their future – together, and apart – as their love story takes on different incarnations and twists and turns to the conclusion in the present day.
The Versions of Us is an outstanding debut novel about the choices we make and the different paths that our lives might follow.
What if one small decision could change the rest of your life?
Have you read any of this week’s choices? Do let me know or leave your link below…
I sounds like The Broken Hearts Club was exactly what I expected from its cover! Sometimes those sorts of books can be fun, but if they’re too predictable they can drag on while you wait for them to fulfil all your expectations.
I like the sound of The Versions of Us – the blurb reminds me of the film Sliding Doors.

Yep, you’re right! I think I need to give these books a rest for a while. I don’t mind a rom-com every now and again but just lately it seems nothing new is coming to the table.
On another note, I’ve bought a copy of 84 Charing Cross Road 🙂
Argh! Must get a copy of 84 Charing Cross Road! Off to check out the library catalogue right now…
🙂
Right. Just ordered a second hand copy online. Hopefully I’ll have it by Monday at the latest 🙂

Great, when we have our copies we can decide upon a schedule. I don’t think its a very long book 🙂
My copy of 84 Charing Cross Road turned up yesterday morning! 🙂
The Versions of us sounds like a great read and one I hope I’ll get around to one day!

I’m really looking forward to starting it. It has a Sliding Doors sound to it and I loved that movie 🙂
I read The Broken Hearts Book Club this week too and I think it came to me at just the right moment as I was in need of a book like this so I really enjoyed it. I’ve got The Versions of Us on my Kindle and as an audiobook and I really, really want to read it soon, it sounds so good! Hope you enjoy it 🙂

Some times books need to fall in your lap at certain times for you to enjoy them more. I just didn’t get anything different from The Broken Hearts Book Club unfortunately – hey ho!
Can’t wait for The Versions of Us 🙂
It’s good to have different opinions on books, it makes things much more interesting. 🙂 I hope you enjoy The Versions of Us, it sounds so good.
Death By Dangerous and The Versions Of Us both sound like great reads, I hope you enjoy them.
Happy Wednesday and thanks for visiting my WWW!

It would be a perfect read if you don’t want to think too much about what you’re reading and are happy to get swept along in the moment!
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
You should definitely read the book you’ve had since April. I hope you’ll like it. Happy reading! https://ireadboooks.wordpress.com/2015/10/14/www-wednesdays-october-14-2015/
Sorry The Broken Hearts Book Club was so predictable. That’s always a bad feeling to get from a book if you don’t enjoy it. Here’s my WWW!

Had I read it at a different time I may have liked it more!
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
Darn, I was hoping you had a good review of ‘The Broken Hearts Book Club.’ Sorry it was predictable. I hate that! Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

Just one of those things I guess….some you win, some you lose 🙂
Ooh, The Versions of Us sounds really interesting. A bit like the musical If/Then, though that only follows one woman on divergent paths.
Thanks for visiting my WWW Wednesday!

Not heard of this musical but can’t wait to get started on the book…when I finally get my library copy.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
