Blogging from A-Z April Challenge – A

A is for Advanced Review Copies (ARCs)

Firstly, welcome to my first post for the Blogging from A-Z challenge – I hope you like it and will come again to see how I’m getting on.

One of the great things about book blogging and reviewing is receiving ARCs from publishers. If you’re not familiar with the term an ARC is a pre-publication copy of the novel that publishers and authors send out to bloggers and reviewers in order to receive feedback prior to release.

This is a HUGE perk of being a book blogger and there’s nothing better than coming home to fab book post! I can remember the first time I was approved for an ARC and I was absolutely thrilled. The idea that publishers will send out free books is unbelievable but of course, there is an expectation that you will read the book, review it and help to promote it.

There are various sites you can use or some bloggers are on lists held directly by the publishers. I use Bookbridgr and Netgalley – being registered on these 2 sites holds enough choice for me (too much really!).

Can you recall the first ARC you requested or were sent?
